It is Almost Hiring Season – Job Fair Time!

So it is a new year and it’s about time for the job fairs to roll around.  I am still aiming to land a job in Alaska and have started to apply to different districts that I am really interested in. The big job fair in Alaska comes in late March. It is in Anchorage and I hope to be there.

It is not a cheap fair to attend. The hotel rooms run at least a $100/night which isn’t bad for the location. The biggest cost is the flight. From Dallas so far the cheapest I have seen is around $550 round trip. Right now they are running about $600 and have been upwards of $700 at times. However, if I am able to land a job it is all worth it.

I have done a lot of research and I know the districts I want to target. Hopefully they will have openings that will fit with my abilities. I feel I can be a positive addition to a staff in Alaska, and I am really looking forward to it.

In certification news, I am down to just getting my fingerprints processed. I got them done at the Fort Worth police station the other day and now just need to mail them off. It cost $20 to get two cards done at the police station and now will cost me about $55 to mail them to Florida to get them processed.

There are a lot of applications to fill out as well. Once I get my teaching certificate from Florida I need to finish my application with the state of Alaska. That will consist of another fingerprint card along with a lot of other documentation. It might be a lot of paperwork but it is something I really want.

It’s quite the process but at least I feel like I am entering the final stages.
