My Time is Coming to an End

I have just over 2 weeks left here in Korea. I got my flight information the other day, and I am excited and worried at the same time. I have been very busy of late so I have a lot of updates coming from some of my travels of late. Add in that I have been sick again and I have slacked off on updating my blog.

I am training my replacement this week and yesterday was the first day I didn’t teach my students. I just observed. It was a little weird to say the least. I have developed a really good relationship with many of the students and they will be missed. Some of my younger students didn’t fully understand that I will be teaching them next week as people are on vacation. So, they were asking me for my phone number even though it will only be good for a few more weeks.

I am very excited to go home and see my family, but the preparations to come back are worrying me. My current boss has expressed interest in having me come back next year, so that is always nice to know you are wanted. I have been fortunate to have a good setup here working and living in a great area. But I have to keep thinking that bigger and better things await me somewhere.

I am not looking forward to the long flights, because I hate to fly. But knowing what’s at the other end of it keeps me going. I’ll have a few weeks to rest and get ready for Thanksgiving when my family will be getting together. That will be nice since it doesn’t happen often anymore. A few weeks after that I am headed to Charlotte to see my brother and his family. That will be fun, and then I am headed to NYC. I have never been and I am very excited. I am going to spend around a week there before heading back home for Christmas. After Christmas I hope to go to Dallas for New Years to see some friends and take care of some business. All the while I’ll be looking for a new job to come back to here in South Korea. I hope to be back at least by February, but who knows. I am not going to take the first job offered. I want to wait and make sure I am not in a position where I am immediately looking for a new job.

I have been busy, so I will be writing more before I leave. I went to Andong and the Mask Festival there. I’ll be posting about that very soon, as well as my trip to the DMZ. I love history, and I really love the histories of war. So a trip to the DMZ was really exciting for me. I’ll talk more about that later on as well. I also finished with the orphanage and even received an award from the Mayor of Suseong-gu in Daegu which I will write about later as well. So I have a lot coming very soon. Life doesn’t slow down because I am heading home. In fact, it seems like it is speeding up.
