Here is to a New Year and a New Start

So a new year is here and this usually brings with it some resolutions.  I make them every year, and every year I don’t follow through.  This year I am determined to be different.  From January 1st I know I won’t follow through because I am not making any resolutions.  I almost feel like if something is a “resolution” for me, it won’t come to fruition.  So I could sit here and just say screw it all and not do anything.  Or I could buck up and change my ways.  So what?  I feel better already.

So, there are a few things I have in mind for what I want to accomplish this year.  I won’t bore you with all of them, since many are personal.  However, I have some ideas on what I want to do with this site.  First of all, I want to get better at writing.  I plan to take the Matador U writing course later this year.  I have heard really good things about the program, its affordable, and I have a lot of time on my hands here in Korea.  I hope to take it soon after my winter intensive period is over, and I am back on my normal work schedule.

I also want to learn to take better photographs.  I really enjoy taking them, but I realize I am not the best.  I’d like to be more creative and learn how to take different types of pictures.  Hopefully this will happen sometime after taking the Matador U writing course.  And where might you ask do I want to take this course?  Why of course, Matador U!  They are launching a photography course sometime this year.  I am really looking forward to taking this course.  I hope it opens my eyes to a new way to look at things.

Also sticking with the blog, I want to add content to compliment my blog.  I hope to bring in more readership over the course of the year.  I know it’s not easy, but I hope with good content and learning to write better articles I think it can be done.  I know it doesn’t happen overnight, but I am willing to work at it.

On another note, I plan to start a second website dealing with my baseball travels.  I have decided to see each baseball stadium here in South Korea during the upcoming season.  It really shouldn’t be hard since there is only 8 teams.  Those who have known me for sometime know about my passion for baseball.  I am also planning a trip to Japan this summer.  I can’t be this close and not see a baseball game in Japan.  So I am going to build another site dedicated to baseball, and my journeys.  I hope to unveil it sometime in the next few months.  Also for those who followed me at A Man Nowhere, you might remember my 40 by 40 post.  In my list you might notice a lot of them have to do with baseball.  Again, it is a huge passion of mine.  I hope to be able to use my teaching positions abroad to help fulfill my dream of watching baseball around the world.

So these are a few of my resolutions decisive steps to being a more productive blogger in 2010.  I hope you enjoy the ride, because it should be an interesting year.  I am excited by the opportunities I have living abroad, and I hope to take full advantage.  I don’t want to look back in 10 or 20 years and wonder what I might have seen or done if I had done things differently.  I want to see all I can see and experience all I can experience.  So here is to a great 2010 to everyone out there wherever you might be.

I want to leave you with some of my memories of 2009 in pictures.

‘Till Next Time,
